Community Forklift
Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center for home improvement supplies. We pick up donations of unwanted and salvaged building materials throughout the metro DC region.
Then, we make the building materials available to the public at low cost and provide vintage materials for restoring old homes.
We also offer public education about reuse and distribute free supplies to local nonprofits and neighbors in need.
Days End Horse Rescue
Since its beginning, Days End Horse Rescue Farm has been a place where children and adults have found enrichment, satisfaction, sadness, and purpose through helping to provide care for unwanted, abused, or neglected horses.

One of Fran’s favorite non-profit links, Freekibble.com’s primary mission is to provide good, healthy food to dogs and cats to those shelters who are working so hard to see that none of them go hungry – they need our help.

Laurel-Beltsville Senior Center
This state-of-the-art new senior activity center is built on six acres adjacent to the Laurel Regional Hospital Complex at 7120 Contee Road in Laurel, MD.
The 23,500 square foot senior activity center has been designed to meet the needs of seniors 60 and better and offers a variety of classes, activities, and special events.
The Laurel-Beltsville Senior Center amenities include:
- The lobby includes a help desk and a snack bar and a Spacious Fireplace lounge area
- Game Rooms featuring game tables and Billiard
- Fitness and Exercise rooms
- Ceramics, Arts and Crafts rooms
- Large well equipped Hobby Woodcraft room
- Computer lab and Conference room
- The Great Room can be divided into 4 classrooms and includes a stage and a catering kitchen

Lost Cat & Dog Rescue
We rescue dogs and cats facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters and place them for adoption in loving homes. ALL of our animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
Partnership for Animal Welfare (P.A.W.)
The Partnership for Animal Welfare (PAW) is a non-profit group of volunteers chartered to facilitate the rescue and adoption of homeless domestic animals, mainly dogs and cats, and place them in loving and stable homes.
Adoption events are held in the suburban Maryland area several times a month to allow prospective owners to meet with the animals and with volunteers.
Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary
One of our favorite non-profit links, Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400-acre non-profit refuge in Poolesville, Maryland for farm animals and wildlife that relies entirely on public donations for support.
Their mission is to offer care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for neglected abused, or abandoned farm animals, as well as providing a protected habitat for wildlife.
They promote compassion and the humane treatment of all animals by educating the public on farm animal and wildlife issues.
