Giclée Setup

The key to producing the highest quality reproductions is the Giclée Setup. We scan or digitally capture your original art and skillfully adjust the files to produce the closest match in the finished Giclée prints.

From flat, non-framed originals up to 11×14 that can be captured on our flatbed scanner. Price includes image capture of the original plus basic image clean-up, color correction, and artist consultation of up to 1/4 hour.  Finalized images are archived for future use.

From flat, un-framed original art that is bigger than 11″x17″ but not larger than 16”x24”, that can be captured in multiple passes on our flatbed scanner. Price includes image capture with basic image clean-up, color correction, and artist consultation of up to 1/4 hour.

From non-framed, flat originals larger than 16″x24″ and up to 24″x36″. Price includes art scanned by multi-pass capture and basic image clean-up, color correction, and artist consultation of up to 1/4 hour. Finalized images are archived for future use.

Oversize originals may require a special setup. Price includes oversize setup fee and multi-pass photo image capture of one non-framed original up to 40”x60”, image clean-up, color correction, and artist consultation of up to 1/4 hour. Finalized images are archived for future use.

How We Achieve Our Fine Art Giclée Reproductions

  1. The first step in creating a Fine Art Giclée Reproduction is to capture the original artwork digitally. We have developed a proprietary method for creating multiple high-resolution scans or digital captures, seamlessly combined to produce a digital file of exceptional resolution and sharpness.
  2. The second step is image correction and manipulation. This is where we eliminate unwanted artifacts from the digital file. Flaws in the original can be corrected, and local color and/or density corrections to specific areas can be made.
  3. We strongly encourage artist collaboration during this part of the process, as the artist’s input will greatly enhance the quality of the reproduction. The artist can set the image size, configure borders, and select the desired output media.
  4. Once the artist is satisfied with the workstation on-screen “soft” proof, we recommend producing a small Giclée print or test strip to hard proof the fully corrected image on the chosen media.
  5. Because slight variations can occur between the workstation’s screen and printed media, we suggest producing additional proofs as needed after corrections are made.

Once final approval is given, we have the artist sign the back of the selected proof, which will be held for color match to the final print.

The prices listed are for single copies. Duplicate prints are available with the following discounts: 2-10 additional, less 25%; 11-24 additional, less 30%; 25-49 additional, less 35%, and 50 or more prints, less 40%.
